Model of an Atom: A Bohr model is a way to visually depict the structure of a particular atom. An atom is the smallest building block of an element, made up of protons, neutrons and electrons. Bohr Diagrams. Bohr diagrams show electrons orbiting the nucleus of an atom somewhat like planets orbit around the sun.

The Bohr model was an advancement to an earlier atomic model, the Rutherford Model. Key features of the Bohr model include set orbits for electrons around the nucleus, as well as the ability of electrons to move from one orbit to another. The Bohr model was later superseded by the Sommerfield model.

Using the Bohr model, determine the energy, in electron volts, of the photon produced when an electron in a hydrogen atom moves from the orbit with n = 5 to the orbit with n = 2. Show your calculations. Using the Bohr model, determine the lowest possible energy, in joules, for the electron in the Li 2+ ion.
